Tickets for the main event: Cotto vs. Margarito II Dec 3 MSG officially sold out Thursday! It is the first boxing card to sell out at least one day before the event since Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield at the Garden in 1999. PPV is still available! WBA middleweight Championship bout between (Miguel) Cotto and (Antonio) Margarito is highly anticipated, since the first match took place in 2008 and Margarito won the bout in controversy. Margarito was caught with loaded hand wraps in his next bout against “Sugar” Shane Mosley. Cotto has been on the up and up, and Margarito has been down and out. In fact, Margarito just got the ok to fight (get his boxing license) after almost losing his eye to Manny Pacquiao almost a year ago. Check out the rest of the card…
Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios (28-0-1, 21 KOs) of Oxnard, Calif., will defend his WBA lightweight title against John Murray (31-1, 18 KOs) of England. It will be the first New York appearance for Rios, whose rugged, all-action style has made him a fan favorite on the West Coast. – nypost
Pawel Wolak (29-1-1, 19 KOs) of Mount Arlington, N.J., by way of Poland, will rematch Delvin Rodriguez (25-5-3, 14 KOs) of Connecticut. The two junior middleweights will meet in a rematch of their 10-round brawl last July at the Roseland Ballroom that ended in a majority draw. Their first fight is a candidate for the Fight of the Year and their second meeting is expected to be just as competitive. - nypost
Also on the card is Mike Jones, an unbeaten welterweight from Philadelphia, who faces rugged Sebastian Lujan from Argentina (38-5-2, 24 KOs) in a 12-round IBF eliminator. “I’m looking to steal the show and look better than everybody else,” Jones (25-0, 19 KOs) said. “Being impressive could jump-start my career. I’m 100 percent mentally prepared and ready to go.” - nypost
Meanwhile, Mike Lee (7-0, 4 KOs), the heralded Notre Dame graduate, will face Allen Medina (9-19-1, 1 KOs), in a 6-round light heavyweight bout.
