Jay Electronica Wins the heart of a Super Star DJ

People have been commenting like crazy I must of struck some cord. I know my role and position. But at times it isn’t wrong to ask for a lil help or advice. You must at all times respect your power. I rarely would ask you the people for help because the answers can be so different from one another. Leaders such as the homie Quest Love. Your cult following is ridiculous. You tell them to talk to me and they did. J Electronica I have never met him but always dug some of his early mix-tape stuff. Shouts to my cousin Jaemin for putting me on to J Electronica. I understand that I am one of the Gatekeepers. I am truly honored and Blessed to be here for Hip Hop. Quiz Knows If your out there you wanted to write I’m writing. I would love to have a one on one with J Electronica….To Be Continued

Exhibit C…if you want to play Exhibit A, you can!

  2. Social comments and analytics for this post…

This post was mentioned on Twitter by djenuff: That’s Enuff: Jay Electronica Wins the heart of a Super Star DJ http://bit.ly/829UKP...

I’m happy you listened to your fans. You ARE the gatekeeper. People look to you, Envy, Flex, etc to find out what’s “hot.” So trust your gut, and play what you like, not what you think clear channel or radio one will be happy with. What happened to DJs breaking new music and A&Rs signing new artists that don’t have major cosigns?

It’s a DJs duty to break new music, and an A&Rs duty to discover new artists.

Happy you brought up the open discussion about radio/state of hip hop yesterday….somebody had to do it…..now after all the feed back, this blog post should say alot about you to the people that was confused yesterday…..Glad to see this has all lead to an open invitation for a sit down between you & Jay Electronica…..This is a great start & sure it will lead to more in the future……EXHIBIT C WILL BE PLAYED!!!!!

  5. RedCafeFan says:

    John is right.

I wish DJs could break new artists like they used to, but politics have gotten in the way. It’s a shame.

Red Cafe has a track out with Fabolous (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2kSy5-2k10) that’s getting burn, but he also has another record out with this unsigned cat, Beyond Belief (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPro_z67U_I) which is a better record overall, but it isn’t getting any burn bc there isn’t a major cosign on it like Fab.

New artists have no outlet, and current artists are becoming uninspired b/c they can’t get the true hip hop records that they make on the radio.

I wonder if DJs are gonna start breaking new artists and music before it’s too late and true artists just give up forever.

  6. FWMJ says:

glad you came to the right conclusion :) Now let’s run it over and over like we had to do A Milli LOL

  7. leosashny says:

Jay is a sick MC, and the beat is insane. Just Blaze created a perfect beat for him to shine. Now the Enuff is on board just need to get some more burn with the other heavy hitters in NYC.

  8. regend says:

i thought the Program Directors were the gate keepers…or the corporate entities who own the FCC license probably are more of the gate keepers since they refuse to let program directors play good music on radio.

  9. EJ says:

As they so often remind us, freedom is a road seldom traveled by the multitude. People assume this shit is so easy once you get somewhere, and that’s actually when it all begins to get harder and more confusing.

Make no mistake: this track is Jay Electronica and JUST BLAZE. The verses are ill to the nth, but the beat makes this track an anthem.

  10. RedCafeFan says:

can’t DJs play whatever they want during mixshows?

  11. Hell Yeah! But look tho, shit don’t STOP here. We all know and accept that our craft is going down stream. Its up to US ALL to change the tide. That means more music of substance being played AS WELL as more music of substance being REQUESTED and SUPPORTED! The point E was makin’ in his last post is pretty clear… Spinnin’ this record isn’t gonna change anything if WE don’t MAKE IT change anything.

  12. I’m quite sure Professor Paul would be pleased by this. ;)

  13. GTX General says:

Just Blaze started the movement….although Quest may have pushed it farther, JB put us on first. If you get Jay Elect on the show, make sure to invite Just up there too.
Hope that day will be sooner than we think.

  14. Candice says:

I’m happy you had that change of heart. DJ’s like you will set the tone for better and a broader range of music on these airwaves. I’m happy that Just Blaze bought this to my attention through Twitter and even happier that our voices have been heard. Now run the tune! Lol.

  15. Deft Flow says:

That’s good. Lead yo tribe dawg

  16. Al says:

Hey man Just Blaze was the first one to put everyone on to this through Twitter…I think ?uesto saw it a few hours later and posted it as well…Give JB his credit! He crafted the best beat of the year and got most of these people to come comment on here yesterday so good hip-hop can start to make a comeback.

I cant wait to hear Exhibit C on the radio :)

  17. DJ Enuff says:

Thanks Guys. We have a huge mountain to climb.

  18. bware says:

Thank you Enff for taking a stand finally Exhibit C is def hiphop/dope….the “see you smile” record from 4rax also got me loving hip hop again!!!!!!

  19. kg says:

Definitely huge mountain to climb, understand you have restrictions and entities above calling shots, but this move is definitely a good step forward and sets the initiative. Not only that but New York is the mecca of hip hop….

  20. Jay says:

If theres a time to give records like this shine is winter… once summer comes along, radio execs arent gonna give airtime to songs like this.. theyre gonna wanna keep it upbeat and poppy so hit em now son! LOL

  21. G Funk says:

I don’t really “f” with this site but really had to go out of my way to give you props for putting this banger on. Peace.

  22. Yohance says:

I’m confused…has he played it on the air or no?

  23. admin says:

    yes peep it here

    Rappers I know

  24. ShawnJames says:

its just sad it took you so long to do this…. jay elect is the truth. PLAY REAL HIP HOP more often please.

  25. Joe "Bird" says:

play that the tracks again!!!! props on playin them the first time!!!

  26. Mr.Bailey says:

Though I’m not in NY to actually hear the joint get played, I’m pleased and very excited about Nuffs decision. This gives true hip hop artists such as myself hope.

For every fan there’s a thousand MCs so you may ask what makes me so different? I’M NOT AFRAID TO BE JUST THAT, DIFFERENT…..Longevity is my aim, Not one hit but hit ALBUMS, Not music for the time but music that’s timeless.
