Beverly Bond Announces Launch of Black Girls Rock! Africa

Black Girls Rock! CEO and our very own Heavy Hitter Beverly Bond announced that she’s taking her empowering celebratory movement to the motherland.

Black Girls Rock! is a non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization that promotes the arts for young women of color. The organization partnered with BET in 2011 to celebrate women in arts, entertainment, education, and politics.

“The purpose of the Black Girls Rock! Africa platform is to recognize, support, and celebrate the diversity and dynamism of black women in Africa and the African Diaspora. Black Girls Rock! Africa will tap into our growing international market by illuminating the vibrant cultures and valiant narratives of our African sisters who are sheroes and trailblazers.”

Previous Black Girls Rock! celebrants have been Ava DuVernay, Erykah Badu, Angela Davis, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington, Susan L. Taylor, Alicia Keys, Janelle Monae, Patti LaBelle, Dionne Warwick, Queen Latifah, Mara Brock Akil, Venus Williams and Misty Copeland.
