Lupita Nyong’o Embodies Royalty As She Graces The Cover Of Vogue’s October Issue & Shares Several Personal Moments! [Details+Photos]

Lupita Nyong’o for Vogue’s October 2015 issue? Yes! The Kenyan beauty and Oscar winner dishes on everything this coming issue. She shares the emotional moment with author Plum Sykes of her first encounter with a couture gown saying:

“I didn’t know the power of couture until I tried on a couture dress,— “It made me cry.”

Lupita also shares how she uses her fame and celebrity as the perfect platform to give back to her country, some great advice Oprah shared with her, and a peak into her personal life surrounding having children of her own.

Now she’s taking her charity work to the next level through mentorship–working with pre-teens and teens who have an interest in the arts–as well as working with her mother who raises money for cancer.

We celebrate Lupita not only because of her humility, but her willingness to overcome obstacles. As a teen auditioning in Nairobi, they considered her skin too dark to be on television. Instead of giving up, she flipped their insults into inspiration for her to continue going after her dream. “It didn’t ring true. I just thought, I need to find another way.”

On advice she received from Oprah Winfrey:

“Oprah Winfrey advised me to figure out what my intention is and to act on it,” she said. “I think I can make a difference by having certain stories be told. But it’s in the hope that I will not always be the one telling them.”

Her take on her personal struggle with her “biological clock” ticking…

“This is my conundrum. When I was back in Kenya this past week, I would be driving along with my mother and she would say, ‘That’s a nice school for children’ and look at me like——” Lupita raises her eyebrows as if to say, My mom wants me to have children now. But I think that will all be determined when I have that moment. When I have that man.”

We hear that Lupita! Gotta make sure he’s right, before children come into the equation.
