Event Recap: The Heavy Hitter DJ’s vs Def Jam Records Family Fall Classic 2015 Softball Game [Photo + Video]

This past Sunday (September 20th) The Heavy Hitters DJ Crew and Def Jam Records held their annual charity softball game against each other. This year’s was truly special as the crew invited NYPD out to part take in the festivities. Family, friends and spectators all crowed Bronx’s Castle Hill Little League Baseball Field as the Heavy Hitters and Def Jam teams headed off against each to kick off the double header.

After last year’s upset, with Def Jam not only coming back but also taking the win after going into extra innings, the Heavy Hitters came in ready to claim this year’s title. With two amazing field plays and an amazing home run hit from Los the Heavy Hitter crushed Def Jam 16-6 reclaiming the title.

Following the first game DJ Enuff picked star players from both the Def Jam and Heavy Hitters team to face off against NYPD’s finest softball players. Before the game kicked off guest singer Annalise performed a memorizing jazzy acoustic version of Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love Single” and DJ Enuff’s son EJ threw the first pitch to start the match. 21598032031_7bcd3b2d09_z I’m pretty sure the Heavy Hitters Def Jam All-Star team thought the game would be an easy win until they saw NYPD’s first baseman do a split to get an out within the first play. Laughs and cheers, were shared throughout the nine innings as the two teams battled it out for the championship title. NYPD turned a crazy double play while the All-Star team was up to bat, with the All-star hitting a few clutch home run plays to take the lead. In the end with two strikes and one more player up to bat NYPD ended up upsetting the All-star team with a last minute home run ending the game with a final score of 19-18. 20966413734_079a3231e5_z All three teams were able to raise $2,500  which was donated to the NYPD Explores program, a community service, career-oriented program designed to educate young men and women, ages 14-20, about Law Enforcement. The Explorers reach out to New York City’s young adults in every community to help build up relations between the community and New York City Police Department; and are taught the importance of higher education, self-discipline, and respect for authority while they actively participate in community service projects and other Exploring events.
