Kobe Bryant Will Retire After the 2015-2016 NBA Season [Details] [UPDATE}
Though it has been widely expected since renegotiating his contract in 2013n, Kobe Bryant has confirmed that he plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 NBA season. The 36-year-old future NBA hall-of-famer is currently sitting out after having surgery to repair a rotator cuff tear in his right arm, but is expected to return next season. This is the first time the “Black Mamba” has spoken on his impending retirement, though a formal announcement is expected this fall.
Update: It seems that the Black Mamba might not be hanging up his Nikes next season after all. In an interview with ESPN, he claims that the statement is untrue and that it “wouldn’t be true to who I’ve been my entire career to do a farewell tour”. We’ll see how things shape up when Kobe returns to the hardwood next season.
