Ferguson Police Begin Wearing Body Cameras, Should Other Cities Police Departments Do The Same? [Details]
Ebony and Huffington Post report that Ferguson Police have started wearing body cameras as of this past Saturday. The department was given about 50 body cameras by two companies about a week ago and company representatives offered training to officers Saturday on using the devices that attach to their uniforms and record video and audio.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Ferguson police began wearing the cameras Saturday and that officers had the devices on during a protest that day.
As we all know the Ferguson Police department has been the source of national attention following the death of unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown and subsequent police response.
Across the nation their have been countless reports of unnecessary police brutality with some victims unfortunately succumbing to the same faith of Michael Brown.
Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson also stated that each officer will get one to use.
