UFC Fighter Pulls Out of Title Fight at the Last Minute! [Details]
Extremely disappointing news broke Friday evening that Renan Barao was forced out of his title fight against UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw on Saturday at UFC 177.
Barao, the former 135-pound champ who lost to Dillashaw in May, suffered complications from his weight cut, according to reports. Joe Soto (15-2) will now challenge Dillashaw for the championship. He was initially scheduled to face Anthony Birchak on the preliminary portion of the card.
This is another major hit to the event, as UFC 177 was originally supposed to have two title fights with Demetrious Johnson defending his flyweight championship against Chris Cariaso in the co-main event. That fight was moved to UFC 178 in September after Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier was moved to January.
