Two Pittsburgh Steelers Players Arrested for Marijuana Possession; Will Play Tonight
It was a bad day for the Pittsburgh Steelers as their top two running backs were arrested together on Wednesday. Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount were arrested in Ross Township, Pennsylvania after being pulled over by a motorcycle officer who found 20 grams of marijuana in their car.
Bell and Blount, Pittsburgh’s first- and second-string running backs, are expected to be charged with possession and Bell is also expected to be charged with driving under the influence. An unidentified female was also in the car and faces charges. According to reports, all three of them admitted that the marijuana belonged to all of them.
In Pennsylvania, possession of 30 grams or less is a misdemeanor punishable by up to $500 in fines and/or 30 days in jail.
Bell rushed for 860 yards and eight touchdowns last year as a rookie. Blount signed with Pittsburgh as a free agent this offseason after rushing for 772 yards and seven touchdowns for the New England Patriots.
When the case is resolved, it’s highly likely that both Bell and Blount will face discipline from the NFL and possibly from the Steelers organization.
According to CBS Sports both players will play against the Philadelphia Eagles during week 3 of the preseason tonight at 7:30pm.
