The Johnny Manziel Era Must Wait: Brian Hoyer Named Browns Starting QB
Fans of the Cleveland Browns had long hoped that Johnny Manziel would take the starting quarterback job from Brian Hoyer and begin this new era for the team.
Instead Manziel has been a bit of a distraction to the team, most recently flicking the finger to the Washington Redskins bench.
Both players have struggled pretty bad this summer as Hoyer has a 42.4 QB rating after two pre-season games.
In a release by the Browns Coach Mike Pettine said the following statement.
“(Hoyer) was the clear leader from the beginning. We’ve maintained all along that if it was close, I would prefer to go with the more experienced player. Brian has done a great job in the meeting rooms and with his teammates on the practice field and in the locker room.”
Let’s not get too crazy though, the Manziel era is coming sooner rather than later. And when it does, be ready because it’s going to be one hell of a ride.
