Melo Opts Out of His Contract With the Knicks

Carmelo Anthony has just taken the first step towards leaving the New York Knicks.

According to ESPN Melo has informed the Knicks in writing that he will opt out of the last year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent.

This move should not surprise anyone because Melo said back in February he was going to test the waters of free agency.

Now Knicks fans, don’t star burning his jersey yet. Just because Melo opted out of his contract does not mean he won’t be a Knick next year.

What Knicks fans need to worry about is the team that Melo could end up on. The front runners so far are The Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat, along with a few other teams.

Actually according to ESPN Melo has been asking certain people about what it’s like to be famous in Chi-town.

Melo will have to make a decision within the month. Let’s see if the Knicks can hold onto their best player.
