Prentice ‘Been On My Mind’ [Video]
Up-and-coming artist Prentice is shaking up the Delaware rap scene and is looking to put the state on the hip-hop map. After four-years, Prentice has been gaining attention for his intensely unique talent and flow with no intention of stopping anytime soon. His competitive edge and lyrical confidence allow him as an artist to seldom be overlooked.
A sudden career change in 2009 led Prentice from dropping out of college to pursuing his passion for music. After a serious financial struggle and fighting to establish himself as an artist, Prentice took a worthy risk to buy all his own equipment in order to start mixing and recording his own music. For Prentice, getting attuned with rap came naturally. With an original sound that’s all his own, Prentice has recently released Best Kept Secret Vol 1 & 2 (2009), Best Kept Secret Vol 3 & 4 (2010), and The Big Picture EP in (2011) with critical reception.
Prentice first hit the airwaves nationally after being featured in a on-air interview at Shade 45 in New York City for DJ Kay Slay’s show, “Bars at 11,” for his free-styling skills. Tapping into a myriad of influences and marketing his own genre, Prentice comes to hip-hop with a fresh, highly lyrical perspective. Drawing from the experiences around him to give his tracks depth, and a certain realness that’s hard to find in hip-hop. After wrapping up the August 2013 release of his video “Better Days,” Prentice is hard at work on a new mixtape and is expected to collaborate with other talented artists in the future. Either way, don’t expect to see Prentice fade anytime soon. Undoubtedly, he’s an artist destined for success with the skill needed to change the game.
