Big Star Expected To Have Season Ending Surgery
The Texas Rangers traded one of their best players for one of the best hitters in baseball – Prince Fielder.
Unfortunately for the team, they may have to wait another year to see if having him on the lineup will bring the team a world series as Fielder is now expected to have season ending surgery.
The surgery is to repair a herniated disk in the back of his neck, pinching a nerve and limiting feeling in his left arm.
According to manager Ron Washington,
“It’s a situation where there wasn’t anything he could do about it. If he could, he would be here.”
He had previously only missed five games his entire eight year career.
Fielder, acquired last November in a trade with the Detroit Tigers for All-Star second baseman Ian Kinsler, will get a second opinion before going ahead with the procedure, Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels said on a conference call according to a report on Major League Baseball’s website.
