Extra! Read All About It! Minnesota Timberwolves Kevin Love May Be On The Market!

After refusing to sign a contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin Love may be on the market to the highest bidder,.

That’s because for what seems like the first time, General Manager Flip Saunders is going to hear offers for the superstar big man. And you can best be sure that there are many teams knocking on the door.

Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press gives bigger details on the team’s possible thinking.

With the NBA draft lottery coming up this week and an increasing concern that Love will leave for another team after next year, that stance has softened, two people with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press.

The Timberwolves are now open to the idea of trading Love if the right deal comes along.

The people requested anonymity because the team has not made any final decisions on Love’s future in Minnesota. A likely asking price would include a high first-round pick in this year’s draft and a solid veteran or two who would come in and contribute right away to a team that is lacking in veteran leadership.

The challenge here is getting the best price for the player. New York Knicks would love to have him, but with a lack of draft picks do they even have a chance? Plus I’m sure they’d want Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo as well.

What about Brooklyn Nets? They could use another big man as Kevin Garnett isn’t himself anymore and Brook Lopez is injured nearly every year. San Antonio Spurs could be a landing spot with Tim Duncan at the twilight of his career. Of course the Los Angeles Lakers would also LOVE to team him up with Kobe Bryant for one last run.

This could be a busy offseason in the NBA after all.
