Thunder’s Serge Ibaka Possibly Out For The Rest of The Playoffs [Details]
Ohklahoma City is going into the Western Conference Finals without their defensive ace Serge Ibaka. If thats not bad enough they are going against a team in the San Antonio Spurs that looks as close to unbeatable as anyone in these playoffs.
Ibaka injured his calf during their closeout game Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Thunder General Manager Sam Presti revealed that Ibaka is suffering from a Grade 2 strain of the plantaris, which takes time to heal and strengthen.
According to ESPN, Presti had this to say about the lose of Ibaka.
“I just want to express our disappointment for Serge, who, as we all know, is an elite competitor and someone that has proven to be a tremendous teammate,” Presti said. “He was playing great basketball throughout the season. He’s had a huge impact on our season to date.”
“We have had this group together for a while, and they’ve been through some ups and downs, and this is just another one that hopefully is only going to make us better,” Presti said.
Ibaka is averaging 12 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks so far within these playoffs.
He might not be a big time scorer but Ibaka’s defensive presence in the paint is what makes him so valuable to OKC. Lets see how the Thunder fair without him.
