Stan Van Gundy Will Become Next Detroit Pistons Head Coach & President Of Basketball Operations
After many rumors, Stan Van Gundy has made his decision.
The coach has agreed to a $35-million, five-year contract to be the Detroit Pistons’ coach and president of basketball operations according to ESPN.
According to ESPN,
Van Gundy is leaning toward accepting Detroit’s aggressive pitch, despite strong interest from the Golden State Warriors regarding their coaching job.
Sources indicated Tuesday afternoon that the Warriors increasingly expect Van Gundy to accept Detroit’s substantial offer, with a final decision expected within the next 24 to 48 hours.
This is a huge opportunity for the former head coach, who never had that kind of power over a team in his career.
Van Gundy hasn’t coached since 2012 with the Magic.
