NBA Looking To Give Shelly Sterling The Boot As Owner Of The Clippers
Shelly Sterling the estranged Wife of Donald Sterling has recently come out saying that she does not intend to sell her half of the L.A Clippers.
For those who don’t know Donal Sterling is the current Clippers owner who was banned for life from the NBA after recordings of him making racist remarks where released by TMZ. Most expect that the other owners in the NBA will vote him out saw an owner, forcing him to sell the team.
The problem is Shelly Sterling owns 50% of the Clippers and she plans on keeping it.
The thing is though Shelly is not technically an owner. In order to be an owner you have to have the permission of the NBA board of governors, which she does not.
According to ESPN, Magic Johnson says that the Clippers players have no intention to play for any Sterling.
“Those guys are not going to play for anybody (named) Sterling,” Johnson told USA TODAY Sports and two other reporters at the Omni Dallas Hotel. “It’s just how it is. It’s hard to separate the two. … It’s going to be hard for them to sell that to the fans and definitely to the players.”
Is it fair to punish an entire family for one man’s sins? Either way the NBA is looking into a way to take away Shelly’s portion of the Clippers but like her husband she won’t go down without a fight.
“This is a great franchise. Shelly’s been a co-owner in the darkest days. And now, ‘Go Clippers!’ maybe we can bring an NBA championship to this city this year. But if she has to fight, she’ll fight. We respect property rights in America. We have due process. And she will fight to retain her interests.”
Let us know what you think. Should Shelly Sterling get to keep her portion of the team or should she get the boot like her husband?
