Michael Sam Becomes First Openly Gay NFL Player
In a draft filled with talent from top to bottom the most memorable and historic moment was when Michael Sam got drafted 249th overall by the St Louis Rams.
It was a very long wait for Sam, with many wondering if his name would ever get called but the Rams took a chance on who is now the first openly gay player in NFL history.
Sam who was the SEC Co Defensive Player of the Year last season announced that he was gay in February.
There was rumors that Sam was not going to get drafted because he isn’t that good of an athlete but the Rams decided to take the chance.
The journey only now begins for Sam he must prove that he is worthy to make the team and contribute, but for now he should celebrate with his friends and family on this historical day.
