New York Knicks Looking To Hire Steve Kerr As Coach By May
Steve Kerr may not have any coaching experience.
But neither did Jason Kidd and Mark Jackson, both with teams currently in the playoffs.
It looks like Kerr, who is currently an analyst on TNT, may be President Phil Jackson’s target to become the Knickerbockers next head coach.
According to ESPN,
The intention of new Knicks president Phil Jackson is to secure Kerr as his first coaching hire by early next month, which would theoretically soften the blow for the announcer’s current employer to withstand losing its No. 1 analyst in the midst of the playoffs.
Kerr, who was formally general manager of the Phoenix Suns, spoke about the job earlier this week.
“We will keep talking. There is a lot to cover on both sides. This was the first time we’ve talked about the job. It just opened up last week. We got a lot of things to discuss. Oh yeah, how could it not? It’s the Knicks and Phil Jackson, my coach. I would be crazy not to look into it.”
After that it looks like Jackson will look into the draft and finding ways to convince Carmelo Anthony to return.
