One of the more elite running backs in the NFL has joined the New York Jets.
The team has announced via Twitter that they have just signed former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson to a two year deal worth $9 million according to Adam Schefter.
Johnson was once considered top three running back in the league, rushing for at least 1,000 years in six straight seasons in the years 2008-2013. That includes a huge year in 2009 in which he ran for 2,006 yards.
He was released by the Titans earlier this offseason after a disappointing season that saw him rush for 1,077 yards and six touchdowns for the team.
He is joined by running backs Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory in the backfield.
This makes the team’s third high profile signing of the offseason also signing quarterback Michael Vick and former Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker.
