Amar’e Stoudemire Still Thinks The New York Knicks Are The Best Team
With the New York Knicks making headlines on just about everything they do, the best bet is to keep “newsworthy” comments to yourself the best that you can.
With a hugely disappointing season, and one step away from missing the playoffs, Amer’e Stoudemire wanted to make sure he let everybody know that he thinks that the New York Knicks are the best team in the league…on paper.
'On paper we might be the best team in the league.' Amar'e Stoudemire w/ a straight face
— Adam Zagoria (@AdamZagoria) April 13, 2014
Let’s break it down.
Miami Heat – LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen, Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers, Chris Anderson, etc.
Brooklyn Nets – Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson, Andrei Kirilenko, Shaun Livingston
Not convinced yet?
Oklahoma City Thunder – Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook. Serge Ibaka, Caron Butler, Kendrick Perkins, Thabo Sefolosha
Los Angeles Clippers – Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Danny Granger, DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford, J.J. Reddick, Glen Davis, Darren Collison.
If I was playing a game of 2K I’m taking the Clippers.
It’s not to say the team isn’t good on paper, the Knicks look good on paper. But better than the teams listed above? Doubt it.
Let’s take a look at the Knicks lineup.
New York Knicks – Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton, J.R. Smit, Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway JR., Andrea Bargnani.
Doesn’t quite strike fear in my heart.
It’s not to say that Stoudemire shouldn’t think highly of his team, because he damn well should. And he is right in thinking that the team should be much better than they are playing. But after being eliminated from playoff contention I’d kind of watch what I say a little more.
What team would you choose?
