New York Knicks Thinking About Picking Up Lamar Odom [Details]
It is no secret that Lamar Odom has been through a rough couple of years. Loosing both his wife and his job and also fighting a drug addiction. If things go well though he might have a chance at redemption.
According to ESPN.com the New York Knicks have expressed interest in signing Odom.
Why Odom? Well Phil Jackson of course!
Jackson who is now the President of Basketball Operations for the Knicks used to coach Odom back when in his Los Angles Lakers days. Odom was one of the biggest contributors to the last two championships the Lakers won. He even won six man of the year in 2011.
Odom was then traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2012 and that is really when things started to unravel for him, both professionally and personally.
According to ESPN Jackson and Odom were spotted chatting at the Knicks/Nets game last week. Now most believe the talk was more about personal business than basketball but reportedly Jackson is willing to give Odom a shot if he shows that he is serious about a comeback.
If the Knicks do decide to sign Odom they will try to get it done before the Knicks last game of the regular season on Wednesday April 16th. That way they can have him work out with the team over the summer and see if he is physically and mentally ready for the 2014-15 season.
Odom was playing in the Spanish ACB league, his time their was cut short after two games due to a back injury.
This is definitely a big move for Odom in terms of basketball, but is the scrutiny of the New York media going to prevent him from putting his personal life back together?
