New York Yankees Lose Closer To Injury; Make Trade For Pitcher
Mariano Rivera’s successor is headed to the disabled list only seven games into the season.
In a save situation today (April 7) against the Baltimore Orioles, the New York Yankees brought out pitcher Shawn Kelley instead of closer David Robertson.
The reason for the move was because Robertson had suffered a groin strain during last night’s win against the Toronto Blue Jays. He is now headed to the 15 day disabled list.

As a possible result of the injury, the Yankees found a suitor for infielder Eduardo Nuñez as he was designated for assignment to make room for Yangervis Solarte who has been making quite an impression early this season.
The Bronx Bombers have traded Nuñez to the Minnesota Twins for left-hander Miguel Sulbaran who will go to Triple-A Rochester.
