More Than 100 People Arrested & 44 Hospitalized After Riot Near University Of California Santa Barbara [Details]
An annual Spring Break party near the University of California Santa Barbara turned into a sprawling riot after a university cop was smashed in the face with a backpack full of liquor bottles.
The Daily News reported that an estimated 15,000 partiers packed the streets on Saturday for the boozy blowout. Then around 9:30 p.m. trouble ignited into a violent scene when a University of Santa Barbara police officer was attacked with the sack of bottles.
For the next four hours Rioters ripped down street signs, lit fires and fired rocks and bottles at cops during the annual ‘Deltopia’ spring break party near the Santa Barbara campus
Cops and Sheriff’s deputies cleared the crowds with tear gas, pepper spray and rubber bullets with more than 100 people being arrested and 44 treated at hospitals after the event.
