Titans Release Running Back Chris Johnson [Details]
The Tenseness Titans have released running back Chris Johnson after 6 seasons according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
To most people this may come as a surprise especially if you remember Johnson’s 2000 rushing yard season in 2009, which lead him to a huge contract with his now former team.
What you need to remember is that NFL teams follow the creed set by the immortal Janet Jackson, “what have you done for me lately?”.
Johnson’s numbers have dropped significantly from that magical 2009 season. In fact last season he only averaged 3.9 yards per carry which is a career low and and scored 6 touchdowns.
The Titans have noticed the same thing and believe that he is getting paid way to much to under perform like this.
The Titans will save $4 million by releasing Johnson. According to ESPN they also plan on drafting a running back in this years draft.
