Maurice Jones – Drew Inks Deal With The Oakland Raiders [Details]
Running Back Maurice Jones-Drew agreed to a deal with the Oakland Raiders on Friday, signing a three year contract with the terms of the deal undisclosed.
According to ESPN.com Jones-Drew wanted to play in Oakland to be closer to his parents who live in the bay area. Also he wanted to play for his childhood squad.
Other than sentimental and financial reasons, there is no other rational to play for the Raiders, who have been god awful for almost a decade now.
Putting the Raiders short comings aside, this could actually be a good destination for Jones-Drew. Unlike when he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jones Drew will not be the sole provider of offence on the Raiders because he will be splitting carries with current Raider running back Darren McFadden.
Both Running backs have a history of injury in this league and with them splitting carries it will allow for both to shine with a lesser chance of getting hurt.
Even with this addition the Raiders; who’s fan base is known as the Black Hole, is still the abyss where players careers go to slowly die.
