Lebron James Jealous of Miguel Cabrera’s Big Time Contract [Details]
After a game where Lebron James showed his dominance by leading his Miami Heat to a victory with a triple double against the Detroit Pistons, he still felt like he was in second place to an athlete who does not even play his sport.
James told the media that he was amazed and a little jealous of the contract that Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera just signed.
Cabrera, who won the triple crown in 2012; the first in over 40 years, signed a 10 year contract where he would make $292 million guaranteed.
James who will make a measly $19 million this season says that he wished the NBA didn’t have a salary cap like in Professional Baseball.
According to ESPN,
Baseball, of course, does not have a salary cap. The NBA does, and players with James’ experience level are capped at earning 35 percent of the $58 million salary cap and can sign for no more than five years.
James is not disputing Cabrera’s contract but congratulating him saying that the best payers should get paid the best money.
“He’s the best player in baseball, and the best players in each sport should be rewarded,” James said. “It’d be nice to sign a 10-year deal worth $300 million.”
James also has the option of opting out of his contract this summer, James said he would surly opt out of his contract if that kind of money was the table.
Let us know what you think, is Lebron worth way more than he is getting paid or should Lebron just suffer in silence with his $19 million.
