Baltimore Ravens Running Back Ray Rice Indicted On Assault Charges
Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has not been able to shake off the incident at Atlantic City last month, and has now been indicted on charges due to the incident.
He was indicted by a grand jury today (March 27), on third-degree aggravated assault for apparently knocking his wife unconscious at a Revel Resort & Casino.
The former Rutgers standout now faces a prison sentence of three years to five years, and a fine up to $15,000.
Rice’s lawyer Michael Diamondstein made a statement to ESPN saying,
“I have been advised by the prosecutor’s office that an indictment has been returned. And again, we deny that he committed an aggravated assault. We don’t think the law would support that [he did]. And we just ask the public to reserve judgment until all of the facts are out.”
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti made it known that Rice was safe on the team. They also made a statement about the decision.
“This is part of the due process for Ray. We know there is more to Ray Rice than this one incident.”
There has been np word on the NFL on any penalty recording the running back as of now.
