Jets Reach Deal With Micheal Vick and Cut Ties With Mark Sanchez [Video]
The New York Jets have made yet another move causing controversy for their starting quarterback.
The Jets have signed quarterback Micheal Vick to a one year $5 million deal yesterday after Vick visited the teams facilities.
This signing brings up a lot of questions about whether or not Geno Smith is still going to be the starting quarterback for the Jets, Vick helped answer those questions by saying right now Smith is the starting QB but they will be competing for that position from this day forward.
Also according to ESPN,
“I wouldn’t say I’d necessarily be OK with sitting on the bench, but I know what I signed up for,” said Vick, who described Smith as a good friend. “I know what I came to New York to do. First and foremost, I came to compete and be there for Geno. I know he has a long way to go, but we both talked and we both agree we’re going to push one another and make each other better.”
Its amazing to see the transformation of Vick from being one of the most hated people in America too one of the classiest players in the league.
This move should actually help Smith grow as a player and also keep a fire under him knowing that he has an all time great right at his heals ready to play.
As for former Jets first round pick Mark Sanchez, well they threw him out the second Vick signed his contract.
This is not the first time Sanchez has gotten burned from a quarterback signing, two years ago the Jets signed Tim Tebow to help push Sanchez in the right direction and it was a disaster for the entire organization.
The bright side is Sanchez can finally leave this organization and all the embarrassing moments behind as he starts with a new team. Well he can leave everything but the “butt fumble” that will forever remain in out hearts.
