Transgender Woman Blames 1990 Serial Killings On Her Former Male Identity [Details]
Oh wow this has to be the third craziest news story to make headlines this month. According to ABC A transgender woman accused of being a serial killer is blaming the 1990 murders of three prostitutes in Washington State on Douglas Perry, the person she identified as before her transition.
Now before we continue this is not a necessarily a true reflection of how transgender people view their nonconforming identity.
In 2012 Donna Perry, 62, told police in an affidavit filed in Spokane Superior Court that she had gender reassignment surgery in Thailand, and when a person transitions from male to female, “there’s a great downturn in violence.” She also told police that she intentionally had the operation, which she underwent in 2000, “as a permanent way to control violence.”
Donna Perry was arrested earlier this year and served jail time for federal weapons charges. According to the affidavit police reported they matched Perry’s fingerprints to the ones found at crime scenes. Perry is being held on $1 million bond in a Spokane County jail. Perry is accused of killing Yolanda Sapp, Kathleen Brisbois and Nicki Lowe and dumping their naked bodies on the river banks.
Perry is using her identity change as a defense against the murder charges and if she sticks with it… honestly may be the first time in legal history someone has attempted to use gender reassignment as a defense. Check out the full news story below.
