The Zen Master is Back in NYC!
After weeks of keeping Knicks fans in suspense, legendary coach Phil Jackson has finally signed with the New York Knicks as the President of Basketball Operations.
According to ESPN Jackson signed a 5 year deal that will pay him $12 million a year. Jackson will take over as President and general manager of the team.
Jackson returns to NYC after winning 2 championships with the Knicks in 1970 and 1973. He then went on to to win 6 championships with the Chicago Bulls and 5 with the Los Angeles Lakers. Just in case you havent seen it before check out the hardware below.
All though Phil Jackson is a huge improvement Knicks fans need to realize that there is a long road ahead littered with problems.
The Knicks are over the salary cap which means they can not sign any big time players this summer unless they make a trade. Also there is the situation of whether or not Knicks star Carmelo Anthony will leave this summer due to free agency.
All these problems aside the signing of Phil Jackson is a great first step for the Knicks organization.
Knicks fans just need to realize that this is a marathon not a sprint and a championship could be in reach. As long as Knicks owner James Dolan does not find a way to screw it up.
Let us know what you think is this a great move for the Knicks or is it just another mistake waiting to happen?
