O.J. Mayo Gets Ejected From Game for Punching a Player in the Throat [Video]
Milwaukee Bucks guard O.J. Mayo has not been having a very good season. After getting a sweet 3 year $24 million contract in the off season he responded by having the worst statistical season of his career. Mayo is averaging 12 points a game on 40% shooting which matches the Bucks 12-49 record, the worst in the NBA.
Last night Mayo got another proverbial swirly from this bully of a season by getting ejected after throwing what looked like a punch at New Orleans Pelicans’ center Greg Stiemsma.
The punch was thrown after Stiemsma set a hard screen on Mayo that seemed to tick him off which lead to what initially looked like a shove from Mayo. After the officials reviewed the incident they ruled it to be a punch or forearm to the throat and ejected Mayo from the game with a flagrant 2 foul. Check out the video below.
According to Complex Sports Mayo apologized for his actions saying,
“I reacted the wrong way and handled it for sure the wrong way.” Mayo added, “It’s definitely the wrong way to conduct yourself. I’ve got to be better and I will be better.”
The Pelicans beat the Bucks 112 – 104.
