Could A Phil Jackson New York Knicks Marriage Be In The Future?
After sitting with former world champion New York Knicks player Phil Jackson, the team has reportedly offered the legendary head coach a job in the teams head office.
According to the New York Daily News, the retired coach is looking to make a decision this week.
It is unclear what position the Knicks offered but the NBA source said that it would be “more than just a consulting job.” If Jackson is put in charge of the front office, it would represent the first time he has done so in his illustrious career. Moreover, it remains to be seen if Jackson, who has had health problems in the past, would have the energy and appetite to want to scout.
He might sleep it over, but according to a report from Stephen A. Smith, the Hall of Famer has no interest in being apart of the organization at this time.
The sources said that Jackson, 68, told the Knicks that he was not interested in the position at this time.
It’s hard to see Jackson want to come to an underachieving team which has a record of 22-40 this season, and has lost much of their draft assets and too much flexibility because of free agent signings and trades.
Plus Carmelo Anthony is rumored to be fed up with the way the Knicks have been playing lately and could leave as a free agent after this season.
Jackson played for the Knicks from 1967-1978 winning two NBA championships.
In 20 years as a head coach he is 1,155-485 with 11 NBA Championships.
