NFL Looking to Penalize Players Who Use The N-Word.
The Fritz Pollard Alliance, an influential group that promotes diversity and job equality in the NFL, has teamed up with the NFL competition committee to try and penalize players who use the N-word on the field.
According to ESPN.com John Wooten the head of the Fritz Pollard alliance believes that the rule will become final next month at the NFL Owners Meeting.
If made a rule the NFL will issue a 15 yard penalty to first time offenders and will eject second time offenders from the game.
The rule is not only for the N-word but all racial and homophobic words used on the field
According to ESPN.com,
I will be totally shocked if the competition committee does not uphold us on what we’re trying to do,” Wooten said, according to CBSSports.com. “We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room.
This ruling mostly stems from the Richie Incognito and Johnathan Martin Case in which Incognnito who is white called Martin the N-word amongst other things in a voice mail a few months ago.
The NFL Owners Meeting will be March 23-26 in Orlando FL.
