Nets, Knicks Looking To Make A Splash Before Thursday’s NBA Trade Deadline [Update]

The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are trying to find ways to improve their disappointing teams a few days before the NBA tradeline passes.

Brooklyn is second in the Atlantic Division with a 24-27 record on the season. Being hammered by injuries throughout the season, it looks like the team is looking for a third point guard with three point range that could help strengthen the team from 3-point range.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Nets have discussed a trade that would involve two disappointing players in Jason Terry and Golden State Warriors point guard Jarrett Jack.  According to the report the two teams are looking for a third team, as the Cavs are not interested in keeping Terry.

Update: Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that Los Angeles Lakers and Nets have reportedly talked about a deal that would send big man Jordan Hill to the Nets. According to the report Brooklyn use the $5.15 million exception acquired when they lost Brook Lopez for the season to complete the deal. There is no report in who, in that situation would go back to the Lakers.

The other New York team is looking to make a splash as well.

Knicks are going hard after a number of point guards, highlighted by their pursuit of Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, which they tried to acquire a few times this season.

Ian Begley of ESPN New York, is reporting that the team is offering a package of Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, and Beno Udrih for the talented guard. If that doesn’t work, their backup plan would be Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague. Interestingly enough those two players could be involved in a rumored trade that would send Teague to the Raptors, Shumpert to the Hawks and Lowry to the Knicks according to the report.

If the Knicks fail to reach an agreement with either team, it is a possibility they could pursue ousted Denver Nuggets point guard Andre Miller.

At the moment, the Knickerbockers are trying hard not to include Tim Hardaway JR in any trade scenarios.

For those thinking about prized player Rajon Rondo, the Boston Celtics want two unprotected first-round picks according to Sam Smith of Bulls.com.

Oh! Don’t worry Knicks fans, there’s a big chance that Carmelo Anthony will NOT be traded this season.

In other trade rumors in the NBA:

Charlotte Bobcats are interested in trading for Philadelphia 76ers guard Evan Turner.
