Six-time NBA champion (1991-93, 1996-98). Six-time NBA Finals MVP (1991-93, 1996-98). Five-time NBA MVP (1988, 1991-92, 1996, 1998). 14-time NBA All-Star (1985-93, 1996-98, 2002-03). NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1988). 10-time NBA scoring champion (1987-93, 1996-98). NBA Rookie of the Year (1985). NCAA champion (North Carolina 1982).
That’s only some of the biggest highlights from the outstanding resume of “His Airness” Michael Jordan. For those that were born in the late 1980’s he defined what basketball meant to us. He always came through, and found a way to say wow no matter what the situation.
Even when he left to play baseball shortly after the passing of his father, fans flocked to him hoping he’d do well in baseball while loudly praying he’d come back to the Bulls. You cried and leaped when he hit that last shot in 1998 knowing that would be the last time we saw him. Cheered when he came back as a Washington Wizard. Cried again when he hit what should have been the game winning shot at the 2003 All-Star game.
His sneakers have become a global phenomenon, Space Jam is a 90’s baby classic, we all overused “Player 99” in basketball video games, and if you didn’t want to “Be Like Mike” in the mid 90’s then you’re lying!
The unofficial logo of the NBA, we all wish Michael Jordan a happy 51st birthday.
