Warren Sapp To Michael Strahan ‘You Don’t Belong In Hall Of Fame’
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp is making headlines after publicly telling people at the Super Bowl media day earlier today that former New York Giants great Michael Strahan did not belong in the Hall of Fame.
This all stems from Sapp giving his opinion last year while they were both finalists for the Hall of Fame.
“Say if I rewind this to Saturday at 12 o’clock me and you are sitting and I say, ‘It breaks down whatever and whatever and then you have Michael Strahan and me. C’mon, the menace and the media darling,’” Sapp told WDAE. “C’mon. Madness, or Good Morning America? I mean, c’mon.”
“You never cease to amaze me! Enjoy your moment. You don’t need to take a shot at me to justify yourself to other people. #class“
Today, Sapp rehashed his opinion to Neil Best of Newsday.
“I don’t think his resume stacks up.”
“He only has four straight pro bowls and a mythical sack record. When you really measure him up he comes up short.”
Strahan fired back, pretty much tossing the barbs aside.
“Football was part of my life, but it is not my entire life. So for some guys, maybe that’s their entire life and that’s all they have to hold onto. Playing football, sacking quarterbacks, that was part of my life, and I did it and I moved on. The tiger does not pay attention to the opinion of the sheep.”
“I am. I’m all hype. I lasted 15 years, all hype. I had 141.5 career sacks, all hype. I was always a starter. I played left end, and that made me get sacks. My coaches kept putting me in the game because they felt it gave us the best chance to win, and that was all hype.”
Throughout his career Strahan has 667 tackles, 24 forced fumbles, 141.5 sacks, and is a 7x pro bowler throughout his career.
