This Day In Sports: Lennox Lewis & Mike Tyson Fight At Press Conference [Video]

It was 2002, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis were setting up for a huge fight for the undsiputed heavyweight championship of the world.

After Tyson’s remarks after a past fight which included the famous words, “I want your heart, I want to eat your children.”

So during the press conference, which was held in New York words exchanged and next thing you know a brawl broke out on the stage, cancelling any hopes of a fight in Las Vegas.

The fight eventually ended up happening June 8, at the Pyramid Arena in Memphis, Tennessee. Tyson got knocked out in the eigth round and his chances of being heavyweight champion again were over.

With all the controversy involved the pay-per-view ended up being the highest grossing event in history by making $106.9 million and almost 2 million buys in the United States alone.
