Broncos Defeat Patriots and Advance to Superbowl XLVIII
Payton Manning and the Denver Broncos defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 26-16 in the AFC Championship game, and Payton played lights out!
Manning threw for 400 yards in 32 attempts with 23 completions, two touch downs and no turnovers, playing like a true MVP. Demaryius Thomas was Manning’s main target with 7 receptions for 134 yards and a touchdown.
The real story here is how the Broncos defense which has been mediocre at best this season had Tom Brady in check for the majority of the game, pressuring him and stopping the running game from getting started.
Brady did not go out without a fight though in the fourth quarter with about 4 minutes left Brady lead a scoring drive down the field, ending it by running it in himself. The crucial two point conversion was stopped by the Broncos leaving it 26-16 with 3 minutes left in the game.
Also Danny Amendola who was the Patriots big pick up after losing Wes Welker to the Broncos did not have one catch in the entire game.
This is first time the Broncos have been to the Super Bowl since 1998. The Broncos will face the winner of the NFC championship game on Feb. 2 at Met life Stadium in New Jersey.
