Shortly after winning his third championship, in three years with the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan decided to hang up is signature sneakers, and call it a career at the age of 36 on this day in 1999.
That year, Phil Jackson decided he will no longer coach the Chicago Bulls, and teammates Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman both became free agents.
It was the end of the Chicago Bulls dynasty.
Of course, he returned one more time for the Washington Wizards, where he played the final three seasons of his career.
