Washington Redskins Hire Gruden As Head Coach

Jay Gruden will be the next head coach of the Washington Redskins according to ESPN.

No, not his brother John is currently the lead analyst on ESPN’s broadcast of Monday Night Football. His younger brother Jay who was most recently the offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to Adam Schefter,

Gruden had been scheduled to interview for the Minnesota Vikings coaching vacancy Thursday before he agreed to become the Redskins’ coach. He is expected to be introduced Thursday afternoon. The team has called a 4 p.m. ET news conference.

The younger Gruden becomes the sixth coach hired by Dan Snyder in 15 years. Their most recent coach Mike Shanahan found trouble with the power balance between his general manager and star player Robert Griffin III.

Washington Redskins finished 3-13 this season.
