Welcome the New Jersey 76ers?

The Philadelphia 76ers are planning a huge announcement at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Thursday.

An announcement that the team may be making its bid to move to New Jersey is the rumor that has been circulating since it was announced.

Joshua Harris is the owner of both the 76ers and New Jersey Devils, which currently makes its home in Newark.

Whatever it may be, the event is being marketed as a very BIG announcement with Allen Iverson expected to be in attendance according to NJ.com.

Devils and Prudential Center Twitters have also joined in on marketing the event.

The New Jersey Nets left town for Brooklyn after the 2012 season. They left the Izod Center (previously Continental Airlines Arena,) in 2010 to play in the Prudential Center for the final two seasons of their tenue.

Of course as Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com states,

Since then, the Devils and Prudential Center have tweeted about the announcement, using terms such as “all in” and “bluffing”, perhaps indicating it has to do with poker or gambling, which is now legal online in New Jersey.

Mike Sielski, sports columnist of the Philadelphia Inquirer has confirmed that it is not about any potential relocation.

The press conference is to be held at 4pm on Thursday.

The Devils said in a statement that the news conference will start at 4 p.m. prior to their game against the Dallas Stars.
