Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine & Frank Thomas Elected To Hall of Fame [Live Stream]
Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine & Frank Thomas are the newest members of the Hall of Fame class of 2014.
This year has brought more debate than usual as no one was elected last year and a growing list of capable candidates became eligible for consideration.
The voters only had ten votes maximum to choose from 36 players that could potentially be voted to enter the Hall of Fame. Out of 136 voters, players looking to be in Cooperstown also need 75% of the vote to enter.
Voters have been split because of players who have been suspected of using steroids, or caught during an era where players found an edge and were hitting 50, 60, 70 homeruns in a year and players were dominating until their mid 40’s.
Top candidates for this season include:
Craig Biggio, Jack Morris, Jeff Bagwell, Mike Piazza, Tim Raines, Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Edgar Martinez, Larry Walker, Fred McGriff, Mark McGwire, Greg Maddux, Frank Thomas, Mike Mussina, Tom Glavine, and Jeff Kent.
Joe Torre (Braves, Cardinals, Mets, Yankees), Bobby Cox (Braves), and Tony LaRussa (White Sox, Athletics, Cardinals) have already been voted into the Hall of Fame as managers earlier in 2013.
