Packers vs 49ers Could Be Coldest Game In History [Video]

How cold is too cold?

If you follow football, then you would know that Green Bay is one of the coldest games to play in the United States. They once had a game at Lambeau Field that dropped to -13 degrees. This was dubbed the ice bowl.

The coldest game in football was registered at -9 degrees. That game was January 10, 1982 with the San Diego Chargers playing the Cincinnati Bengals in a game which no human should of had to endure, a -37 wind chill.

According to Sports Illustrated, this weekends game against the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers could reach depths never reached before in an NFL game.

When the San Francisco 49ers set foot on the frozen tundra of Lambeau this Sunday, the weather could set a new record for an NFL game. According to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, an AccuWeather forecast for the wild-card contest calls for a high temperature of -5 degrees, and a wind chill that could drop to as low as -51 degrees.

The crazy part of this, is that Lambeau Field will be a packed house with fans flocked to watch their team play. I’d gladly watch it in the comfort of heat and some hot chocolate.

For an idea of what kind of game to expect in this freezing weather, watch the two coldest games below.
