Yeezy Taught Me! Kanye West Becomes The New Subject Of Academia In New Textbook

Julius Bailey, a Chicagoan and professor in the Department of Philosophy at Wittenberg University, is making Yeezy the subject of academic textbook. Entitled “The Cultural Impact of Kanye West” the book will focuses on:

The ability of popular art to offer societal critiques and challenge received ideas has been recognized throughout history. Through rap and hip hop, composers, singers, and entertainers have recently provided a voice questioning and challenging the sanctioned view of the times.

According to Fuse:

Students in Bailey’s class Will have the opportunity to learn about “West’s word, images and music in the broader context of Western civilization’s preconceived ideas.” Furthermore, they will understand why “West both challenges religious and moral norms and propagates them.”

This class sounds like it’ll be just as dope as Syracuse University Professor Greg Thomas Hip-Hop Eshu: Queen Bitch 101 english course. A class centered around gender, sexuality, hip-hop and African diaspora through the music of Lil’ Kim (Shouts to Professor Carmen at St. Johns for introducing us to that material).
