Just one year ago, at the age of 36 Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez had a fantastic year scoring eight touchdowns and reaching almost 1,000 yards while coming one game short of reaching the Super Bowl.
After mulling retirement, he decided to come back as Gonzalez was one game short of playing in that very Super Bowl he yearned to be in his whole career. Due to injuries, and other issues the futue hall of fame player enjoyed his last year with a 4-11 team and no chances at the playoffs.
So on the last game of the season, and the last of the 37 year old’s career, the Atlanta Falcons will celebrate Gonzalez with some special gifts before he plays against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
One of the gifts is a unique helmet which splits both teams he played for in half; Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons. The helmet will be presented to himat halftime during the game.
In his 15 year career Tony Gonzalez is a 13x Pro Bowl selection, sixth in touchdowns scored all time with 111, second in all time receptions with 1321 behind only Jerry Rice and is a six time first team all-pro player.
