New York Knicks Looking To Force Trade For Rajon Rondo
After a 9-19 start, and an embarrassing game in front of the national audience of Christmas, the New York Knicks are getting desperate.
Naturally, this means they are looking into trading for one of the top point guards in the NBA, even if he is injured himself.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com, the Knicks believe they have the pieces to pick up Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.
“They’re one confident bunch,” a league executive said this week. “To listen to them, they expect to have Carmelo re-signed and have another star with him in another year. They’re so sure about it you’d think they already know what will happen.”
It doesn’t mean they’ll get him this season. Doesn’t even mean they’ll get him next season, although they are hoping Rondo magically becomes disgruntled at the Celtics. But the (not so patient) Knicks feel that he’d want to come to New York City and try to enjoy success with Carmelo Anthony.
Even as far over the salary cap they are, and without significant draft picks, they are still looking at bringing in stars in the way of the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat in their march to the championship. If they don’t get Rondo, they feel like they won’t worry because they’ll have the confidence to get one of these superstar players.
Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Roy Hibbert, Marc Gasol, Tony Parker and Rajon Rondo.
New York is the city of dreams. Right?
