Carmelo Anthony Praises LeBron James For Forming ‘Dream Team’
Carmelo Anthony has a chance to become a free agent after this season.
This means that there is a chance that the 8-18 New York Knicks may be without the player they built their whole franchise around. Yet with no clear solution in sight, will Anthony leave to join a situation similar to LeBron’s decision to go to Miami?
He spoke to NBA TV’s Ahmad Rashad about his future.
“I’m not saying I want to go somewhere else. When I first got to New York, I always told myself it would be a three- to three-and-a-half-year plan just to rebuild. I knew we took a step backwards as an organization for me to get here. So we had to rebuild.”
Since the trade that sent Melo to New York in 2011, the team has added J.R. Smith, Raymond Felton, Kenyon Martin (all whom played with Anthony in Denver), Tyson Chandler among others. They also signed former all-star Amar’e Stoudemire the year before.
As for his chances to create a “dream team,” I’m not sure that exists this season. He does look at LeBron’ James choice to build a team with the Heat and shared his opinion.
“They were smart. I think it’s smart. It was their choice.”
Could it be his next season? Guess we’ll have to sit and find out.
