New Oscar Logo and Jay Z Nominated For A Oscar? [Video]
Looks as if Jay might just get his shot at a Oscar this year. One of the seventy-five songs, from eligible feature-length motion pictures released in 2013, that are in competition for nominations in the Original Song category is Jay’s “100$ Bill” off “The Great Gatsby” soundtrack.
Although some fans might not like the track it proved to be good enough for a Oscar nomination consideration. Also up for consideration is Pharell’s “Happy” off of “Despicable Me 2”, Beyonce’s “Rise Up” from “Epic”, Angela Bassett and Jennifer Hudson “He Loves Me Still” off “Black Nativity” plus more.
To be eligible, a song must consist of words and music, both of which are original and written specifically for the film. A clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition of both lyric and melody must be used in the body of the film or as the first music cue in the end credits.
The 86th Academy Awards® nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
