Heisman Winner Jameis Winston Looking To Be Two-Sport Star [Video]
Deion Sanders, Brian Jordan, Bo Jackson. Three players that have excelled at being a star in two sports, all in both baseball and football.
Heisman winner and Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston wants to be better than Auburn legend Bo Jackson at doing both.
“I want to be better than Bo Jackson, hopefully,” he told reporters after winning the trophy.
Although the freshman has a bright future as a quarterback, part of the agreement before signing with Florida State was that he was going to play two sports.
He is also a pitchers and this past season Winston played the outfield and relief pitcher positions for the team. In 27 innings this season he had a 1-2 record and a 3.00 ERA with 21 strikeouts.
The Alabama native wants to follow the footsteps in a player in Jackson which had a chance to enter the Hall of Fame in BOTH sports before his player career was cut short due to injuries.
Bo Jackson won the 1985 Heisman Trophy in his junior year where he rushed for 1,786 yards and 17 touchdowns. That year he also batted .401 with 17 home runs and 43 RBIs for the college team.
Winston spoke about winning the Heisman as well as playing two sports on the Dan Patrick Show this morning.
